Voicemails Halt Whittemore Trial

Rochester N.Y.- New voicemail evidence temporarily halted the murder trial of Clayton Whittemore Wednesday while the judge decides if it's admissible.

The messages were recovered May first from the victim's cellphone. District Attorney Sandra Doorley says her office learned of new software that could possibly recover deleted messages while preparing for the trial.

Doorley wants the new voicemails admitted. She says they show a pattern of abusive behavior by Whittemore towards Alexandra Kogut. The defense says this would have changed its strategy.

The judge asked for recovered voicemails from both the defendant's and the victim's phones and will make a ruling.
