Rochester police now investigating two robbery/shooting incidents

Rochester Police are now investigating two separate shooting incidents that happened early this morning.

The first happened about 1:00 a.m. when a couple walking on Ellison Street near Webster Avenue was robbed at gunpoint by two young men.

Police say the male victim tried to push past the two robbers and was shot in the torso. The suspects took the young woman's backpack and ran.

Rural/Metro paramedics treated and transported the injured teenager to Strong Memorial Hospital. Police say he's expect to recover.

The second incident happened about three-and-a-half hours later under the Veterans Memorial Bridge by Maplewood Park.

Police say they were called to Rochester General Hospital after a male victim turned up at the Emergency Department with a gunshot wound to the torso. Before being taken into surgery, he told police he'd been shot on Maplewood Drive after being robbed beneath the bridge. He's currently in guarded condition.

Both incidents remain under investigation. No arrests have been made so far.
