Penfield Apartment Complex Finally Gets The Green Light

Penfield N.Y- After a decade of debate, a Penfield apartment complex project will finally be moving ahead.

The County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency has awarded the Southpoint Cove Apartments project $2.2 million in sales tax and other breaks developers said they needed to move forward.

The apartment complex, which will go up near Bazil's restaurant on Empire Blvd, will have 358 units in ten three-story apartment buildings.

The project took time to get approval from the Penfield town board because residents were concerned about traffic in the area as well as worrries about an eagle’s nest near the project site . Developers will have to halt  construction during the eagles’ breeding season.

The site is also a former landfill so there were environmental concerns as well.

Cleanup work will begin today with construction set to begin in December.

Developers expect to have it ready by next Fall.
