Immigrant Children Will Not Be Coming To Greece

Greece N.Y.- Word came Sunday that some of the recent influx of illegal immigrant children who have crossed into the U.S. via Mexico might end up in the Town of Greece.

Federal officials  did take a tour of the Lexington Commerce Center in Greece last week,  looking for a place to house these immigrant children.

Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich tells WHAM 1180 this idea seems to be dead in the water. He says he has been assured that if the community was against the idea that the government would look elsewhere.

Reilich said that he had heard from many constituents who were adamantly opposed to the idea.

So far, he has not officially heard from  Federal officials but expects that he will soon.
