More than 10,000 North Country residents are without electric power this morning as the brunt of an ice storm missed the Rochester area, but zeroed in on Northern New York and Vermont.
The Rochester area got mostly rain north of the Thruway and ice south of it, which did cause comparatively few power outages for RG&E customers.
Before dawn, about 2,700 customers were without electrical service. An hour later, they reported a little over 2100 customers who need service restored...mostly in Parma and Ogden.
A big circuit in Chili came on between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. Crews continue to work on the restoration.
